That beach wind is ruthless lol! I think I would enjoy this temple though. ✨🌹

It is true, to be honest we enjoyed ourselves too, the temple itself was fine. It was unlucky to be the last after three days of temples. 😂

Bo cups? This is the first I'm hearing of them. Is it like a different variety of divination, like the I Ching hexagram??

We saw these at two temples here, first time but could have missed noticing before… might/must be similar? I don’t know much about either 🤷‍♂️ well, have to do some digging. 😄🙏

Built in the 1990s. Interesting.

Wasn't that around the same time the Falun Gong were being persecuted? Wonder how this came about.

Buddha on Lotus: what is the Chinese word for Buddha?

And you note the Humour of the Gods. Wonderful.

It might be built for influencers/drone photography.

But your write up makes me want to go see it for myself, if I get to visit China.

Where in China is this? What public transport/private transport might one need?

That was very late 90s if I’m not mistaken, but I am not an expert and I don’t think these two things have any relation.

The Chinese character for Buddha is 佛, written directly above the lotus.

It is a good temple, not my first choice but speaking only for myself. You can find in Quanzhou on the SouthEast Coast. Fast trains will get there from most major cities.

I see, thank you!

Last mile connectivity would be via Taxi or such?

What is your first choice/recommendation (re temples)?

Oh yes, a Didi or taxi from the hotel or city center. Um, in Quanzhou or generally China?

Either, I think!

At the moment, I would almost equally believe if told Quanzhou is a real place in China or is a Chinese Point on the moon.

Current knowledge of political map of China’s only to the extent of rough size, and some of its neighbours. 😄

😄 ok. In Quanzhou, anyone would have to say Kaiyuan Temple and its pagodas. You can read about both of those in earlier articles. Best in China, for me? I have seen 1%, but Qingyang Palace in Chengdu, which I haven’t written about here.

seems nice enough - the beach steals the show, though! and with so few people… if only so lucky!

The beach *would be* great but that wind 💨! Blowing sand… we fought all the way across the beach 😂

A kind reader on Medium, after reading Yuanmiao Temple, told me that peach wood is often a stand in translation for Mahogany, of which there are many types. Now knowing that, I see the Bo cups are obviously mahogany. I will try this service the next time I encounter it. 🙏
